Around 50 antinuclear protesters staged a sit-in in the city's Peace Memorial Park against new experiments conducted by the United States to examine the effectiveness of its nuclear weapons using minute amounts of plutonium.

They said that the tests were an "unforgivable act" that insults the victims of the atomic bombings.
