Artistic Activities for Accelerating Spring Farm Work

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- Art squads and itinerant art squads at all levels started performance tours of cooperative farms throughout the country on May 11, inspiring peasants and volunteers to finish rice transplanting and other spring farm work in time and in a qualitative way. The art squad of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League has toured Paekam, Samjiyon, Pochon and Taehongdan counties, Ryanggang Province, busy with potato sowing. The squad members gave four or five performances a day, joining peasants in potato sowing during their breaks. The Workers' Art Group of the C.C., the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea has made the rounds of cooperative farms in Taedong, Jungsan and Phyongwon counties, South Phyongan Province. The art squad of the C.C., the Union of Agricultural Workers has found itself in farms of Nampho City. The art squad made up of artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe and the Pyongyang Puppet Company is active in cooperative farms in South Hwanghae Province and the central art squad in water-pumping and power-supply stations. Provincial art squads and city and county itinerant art squads go on tours of farms in their localities. According to data available from May 11 to 18, all the art squads and itinerant art squads across the country conducted some 1,500 performances in over 900 units. |
