World No Tobacco Day Observed

Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- An event took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Tuesday to mark the World No Tobacco Day. Present at the meeting were officials of the field of public health, ministries and national institutions and working people in Pyongyang. Staff members of the WHO mission here and other foreign guests were also present there. Speeches were made at the meeting. The speakers at the meeting referred to the fact that on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day social concern is growing for quitting smoking in many countries and regions. The member nations of the WHO should strictly control the tobacco production, import and export and sale to protect the health of people from smoking, they stressed. A briefing was made on "WHO framework agreement on tobacco control" and the law on tobacco control. The participants enjoyed a performance by a hygienic information service team and looked round a quitting smoking center. |
