At the press conference the organizations accused the military authorities of scheming to forcibly evacuate inhabitants in Kangjong village, Jeju Island for the above-said project.

Villagers, members of civic and public organizations in different areas and peace activists of various countries have struggled to hold in check the illegal project but the authorities are frantically pushing forward the project defying their protest, they charged.

To check the construction of the naval base amounts to protecting the people's life and peace, they said, calling upon the people from all walks of life to turn out in the actions.
