Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Lake Jingbo, one of the most famous scenic spots in China, is associated with President Kim Il Sung's great feats in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle. A unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army for the first expedition to north Manchuria, under the command of the President, defeated Japanese imperialist aggressors in Shitouhe near the lake in November Juche 23 (1934) in cooperation with a Chinese unit. The victory in the battle gave a momentum to the anti-Japanese sentiments among both the Korean and Chinese people and helped better the armed equipment of a KPRA unit and the Zhou Bao-zhong unit active in north Manchuria. When the President came again to the lake during the second expedition to north Manchuria, he sang the famous "Song of Su Wu" representing the Chinese people's patriotic feelings. From late February to early March 1936, the President presided over a historic meeting in Nanhutou south of the lake. General Secretary Kim Jong Il, during his visit to northeast China some days ago, was deeply moved to see the lake associated with great feats the President performed in the struggle for liberating the country. A Chinese official told Kim Jong Il that he came to the lake, called back upon the great feats of the President and shared friendly feelings with the Chinese people and looked far into the beautiful future of the bilateral relations. "This greatly impresses us and encourages us to redouble our efforts," he added. |
