President Hu Calls for Developing Strategic Emerging Industries

Beijing, June 1 (KCNA) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, called for developing strategic emerging industries. He said this in a speech made while presiding over a group study of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Monday.

To develop those industries is of weighty importance in achieving harmony and development of economy and society, building a comprehensively well-off society and accelerating the socialist modernization drive, he added.

He underscored the need to widely introduce the scientific and technological achievements into industries and thus spur on the rapid progress of the above-said industries.
