Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- The exhibits of the Korean Art Gallery include art works representing Korean soldiers and civilians in the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953). Conspicuous among them are the oil painting "On the Road of Advance", Korean paintings "Old Boatman in Rakdong River", "Namgang Village Women" and "On the Road of Southward Advance". "On the Road of Advance" portrays President Kim Il Sung meeting soldiers of the Korean People's Army on their way of southward advance. The work, based on close relations between the supreme commander and his soldiers, shows that the President's outstanding strategy and tactics, wise leadership and deep care for the soldiers served as a source of their victory in battles against the U.S. imperialist invaders. "Old Boatman in Rakdong River" depicts an old man of south Korea risking his life to ferry KPA soldiers across the river. "Namgang Village Women" pictures women crossing the Nam River flowing in rapids. They lead cattle loaded with ripe rice sheaves, carrying rice sheaves on their heads and backs and holding rifles in their hands. "On the Road of Southward Advance" portrays soldiers drinking water offered by a woman with pleasure. Tanks advancing southward, a DPRK flag fluttering on the roof of her thatched house and thick pumpkin leaves in the yard give a truthful picture of south Korean people's support for the DPRK and its soldiers, which was fully expressed throughout south Korea in the summer of 1950. |
