DPRK Navy with Glorious History
|
|
Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- June 5 marks the Navy Day in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. President Kim Il Sung organized marine security guards on June 5, Juche 35 (1946) on the basis of the navy-building plan he formulated during the anti-Japanese armed struggle. Under his leadership, the naval forces have made a glorious history. In the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), the DPRK seamen sank a U.S. heavy cruiser with only four torpedo boats, a military miracle recorded in the world history of sea battle. In the 1960s, they captured the U.S. spy ship "Pueblo" when it illegally entered the DPRK territorial waters. The naval forces have grown stronger under the experienced guidance of the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong Il. With a deep insight into the position and role of the navy in the Korean peninsula, he has widely guided the effort for its development. Whenever he visited a naval unit, he underscored the need to glorify the undying feats the President performed for the building of the navy. |
