Three Literary Works Based on Pochonbo Battle
|
|
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The Pochonbo battle waged under the command of President Kim Il Sung on June 4, Juche 26 (1937), is well known for its historic significance. The battle inspired the Korean people with the belief that the Korean nation was not dead but alive and that if they fought against the Japanese imperialists, they would surely win. Many literary works about the battle were created in the period of building a new society after the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule. Most famous among them are the revolutionary drama "Thunder" (1946), the full-length epic "Mt. Paektu" (1947) and the oil painting "The Torch in Pochonbo" (1948). They depict the outstanding leadership and great traits of the President and the indomitable fighting spirit of members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army. The three masterpieces are considered national assets in the country. |
