The Ryongsong Machine Complex developed new geothermal equipment for ensuring heating and cooling of buildings.

The new equipment raises thermal efficiency much higher with less electricity than the existing equipment.

The Huichon Ryonha General Machine Factory introduced an air-conditioning system based on underground water, while the South Hamgyong Provincial Prospecting Bureau applied the same system to greenhouses.

The Jongbangsan Combined Foodstuff Factory and some other industrial establishments are working on using geothermal water to keep a proper temperature in production facilities.
