Model Machine Movement
Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Fifty years has elapsed since the model machine movement was launched in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The mass movement is aimed to encourage all to properly maintain their machines and effectively use them so as to keep their performance going well and boost the production capacity.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il set an example of maintaining machines at the Pyongyang Textile Machine Plant in the spring of Juche 50 (1961).

The example sparked off the model machine movement in the country, which has become a powerful mass movement propelling socialist construction.

Some 10,000 workshops and 11,800 industrial establishments won the title of the "Lathe No. 26" Model Machine and some of them the title twice. 890 workshops and 1,600 establishments were awarded the "Lathe No. 26" Model Machine Prize.

The movement has entered a higher stage as required by the era of the IT-based economy.
