While going round various production units including the Hyesan Steel Works, the Hyesan Footwear Factory, the Samjiyon Vegetable Greenhouse, the Paektusan Youth Cranberry Establishment, the Taehongdan Potato Processing Factory, a farm in Tokpho area, Paekam County, and commercial and public catering establishments, he learned in detail about production, technological updating and management.

He at a consultative meeting of officials in the field concerned took technical measures to tap and use at the maximum raw materials in the alpine region at the local industrial factories and profitably manage and operate them, expand in a big way the area of the fields under potato and reenergize the economic work in the province as intended by the party.

On June 3 he visited the construction site of the Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station and took measures to boost the electricity production at its Power Station No.1 which was commissioned ahead of schedule and accelerate the dam construction project.
