The Party's absolute leadership over the army was an essential option of the Chinese revolution, the paper said, adding:

But for the people's army, the position of the Communist Party and everything of the people would have not existed. It was thanks to this army that the Chinese revolution underwent a radical change and China's socialist construction could make smooth progress.

The Chinese army has been faithful to the Party until now because the latter has attached importance and shown care for the former invariably for decades. In many cases in China the army building is placed before economic construction.

Only the army strong and loyal to the regime can be the cornerstone for protecting the state security. It is not easy to definitely ensure the Party's leadership over the army under the present complicated international situation and new socio-historical conditions, but this is an undertaking that should be done without fail.
