Present there were members of south Korean civic and public organizations including the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the "Reunification Plaza", the Solidarity for Progress, the Solidarity for Democratic Society and the Federation of Women's Organizations, personages of opposition parties, citizens and students.

Speakers at the event called on the Korean people to advance the era of the June 15 reunification by concerted efforts of the Korean nation.

They declared that they would put an end to the policy of confrontation with fellow countrymen through elections to be held next year and thoroughly implement the South-North joint Declaration.

An appeal of the south side committee was released.

The appeal called on the south Korean people to turn out in the actions to prevent a war and defend peace in the same spirit as was displayed when they defeated the "Grand National Party" in the June 2 local election.

It urged the authorities to ensure a national meeting for peaceful reunification to mark the 11th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration to be held in Kaesong on June 15.

Participants watched a video dealing with astonishing achievements made by the Korean people in the movement for national reunification under the banner of "By our nation itself" since the publication of the joint declaration.
