S. Korean Authorities Hit for Blocking Reunification Event

| Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Sang Gun, permanent representative of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, in an interview with a reporter of Internet paper Thongil News on June 13 denounced the authorities for blocking the nation's joint event marking the 11th anniversary of the joint declaration. The authorities disallowed the application of the South Side Committee for visit to Kaesong to participate in a national rally for peace and reunification marking the anniversary, he pointed out. He said that the "May 24 step", brought forward by the "government" as a ground to refuse the visit, is the same with the illegal "emergency step" taken during the past military dictatorship. The authorities foiled the joint event in a bid to destabilize All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration, he charged. The South Side Committee will strongly resist the "government" not to resort to such foolish deeds any longer as blocking contact and exchange between the south and the north, he declared. No matter how desperately the authorities try to block, the south side delegation will advance toward Kaesong, he said. |
