A press release read out at the press conference deplored that the rally to be jointly held by the south and the north and overseas could not be held due to the moves of the authorities to torpedo it.

We cannot but lament over the absurdity and incompetence of the Lee Myung Bak regime which finally opted for confrontation with fellow countrymen, the press release noted, demanding the authorities come to their senses and opt for implementing the joint declaration, though belatedly.

It urged the authorities to withdraw the "May 24 step" which severed the inter-Korean relations and refrain from escalating the military tensions such as large-scale military exercises in the areas along the Military Demarcation Line and in the West Sea of Korea.

No matter how desperately the Lee regime may work, the June 15 era of reunification will keep advancing, it stressed.

The Youth and Students Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration held a press conference in front of the puppet Ministry of Unification on Tuesday at which it condemned the Lee regime for finally disallowing the rally.
