Pyongyang streets are decorated with flags of the WPK and the DPRK, red flags, posters, slogans, large electronic displays and lights.

A national meeting and public organizations' meetings were held to mark the anniversary. Speakers at the meetings lauded the great feats the leader has performed in developing the WPK and successfully guiding the Korean people's effort for the building of a thriving nation.

Children gave an art performance at the Pyongyang Students and Children's Palace and foreign students studying at Korean universities presented their compositions praising the DPRK leader.

Mass media have introduced feats of Kim Jong Il through a new documentary film and articles.
