What should not be overlooked is that the Lee group blamed the north for not implementing the joint declaration.

The north-south relations were driven to a bankruptcy. The Koreans at home and abroad are demanding south Korea repeal its current DPRK policy, saying it has pushed to the worst phase the north-south relations that had favorably developed after the publication of the declaration. Events for reunification held in south Korea to mark the 11th anniversary of the declaration heard strong voices urging the punishment of the group.

The south Korean people's anti-government struggle is now gaining momentum, worsening the ruling crisis of the group which already sustained a defeat at the April by-election and making its prospect for power gloomier.

This is the very reason why the group tells whopping lies as 'respect for the declaration' and the 'north is to blame'. Its aim is to mislead the public opinion and thus survive the ruling crisis and retain power.

If the group truly respects the declaration, it should make apology to the Korean nation and history for its crimes and step down as demanded by the people.
