Anniversary of North-South Joint Declaration Marked by Foreign Media
Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- Foreign media marked the 11th anniversary of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

The Russian paper Patriot No. 22 carried portraits of President Kim Il Sung and general secretary Kim Jong Il.

It said:

The joint declaration is the basic cornerstone of Korea's reunification.

The idea of "By our nation itself" remains the immutable banner of Korea's reunification though ten odd years have passed since the publication of the joint declaration.

Korea should be reunified by the efforts of the Koreans with responsibility, according to its will and demand.

This idea reflects the great national unity, a precondition and basic way of reunification.

The developments in the Korean Peninsula after the publication of the joint declaration proved Korea can be reunified only when the whole nation is united.

Peace and security in the Korean Peninsula will be firmly protected thanks to Kim Jong Il, defender of peace and justice.

The Peruvian paper Unidad, the Indian paper Passion India and the Cambodian AKP on June 8 and 9 reported details about the course of the adoption of the joint declaration and its significance.

The Peruvian paper carried a photo of Kim Jong Il.
