Russian President Dmitri Medvedev laid a wreath before the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow.

Attending the wreath-laying ceremony were members of the government, representatives of the State Duma and the Federation Council, war veterans and representatives of public organizations.

Then followed a parade by soldiers of the Moscow Garrison.

Meanwhile, there were such events as ceremonies of laying wreaths and flowers at the tombs of the unknown soldier and burying the unearthed remains of fallen Soviet Army soldiers in other cities of Russia on the same day.
