A spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea in a commentary on June 22 denounced the conservative broadcasting system for its intention to exalt the traitor.

The traitor served for the Japanese imperialists in their punitive operations against the Independence Army before Korea's liberation, the commentary said. During the Korean war he indiscriminately killed civilians in the area of Mt. Jiri.

Extolling him is little short of justifying the pro-Japanese acts and pressing the people to follow sycophantic and treacherous practice, the commentary added.

KBS is also set to broadcast a video praising Syngman Rhee on the occasion of the anniversary of Korea's liberation, August 15.

This can never be pardoned, the commentary noted, urging KBS to immediately stop the act of eulogizing the traitors.
