Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Yonhap News on June 23 opened to pubic the diary of the then commander of the U.S. Air Force in the Far East, which attested that the U.S. imperialists attempted to use atomic bombs in the early days of the Korean War. According to it, at that time the operation research office of the U.S. Department of the Army made a concrete analysis into the tactical use of A-bombs in ground close support operation from September 1950. Contained in the diary is the fact that a doctor affiliated to the office surveyed the war theatre on December 1 that year in a purpose to inform the commander of the U.S. Far East Command of the results of analysis into possibility and effect of using A-bombs in real action. Reporting about the facts, Yonhap News said this shows that the U.S. examined closely the possible use of nuclear weapons in the Korean War. Such attempt of the U.S. imperialists was proven through the facts that the then U.S. president, Truman, told reporters his administration was always examining the use of A-bombs, that Commander of the U.S. Far East Command MacArthur told about the plan to drop dozens of A-bombs over DPRK-China border areas and that the U.S. nuclear weapons were deployed in south Korea in mid-August 1950, according to Yonhap News. |
