Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Preparations for the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", an annual event, are making headway in the DPRK. The creative staff members are pooling their wisdom to improve the performance involving songs, dances, gymnastic movements and acrobatic pieces, along with sound and lighting. Kim Ok Rim, a 25-year-old dancer of the Mansudae Art Troupe, told KCNA, "I am pleased to take part in the performance to be held amid great interest of world people. I will do my best in the performance, a masterpiece in the 21st century." Pang Un Gyong, a 20-year-old factory worker, says, "It is the first time for me to take part in the performance. I am not sure I will make a good job. But dance directors and my friends help me in training. This makes me confident of my acting." "Arirang" is based on events of weighty significance in the centenary history of the Korean nation. It won diploma of the Guinness Book of World Records in Juche 96 (2007). The performers include international and national concours winners, celebrated artistes, students and children.
