Japan's Peace Policy Termed Hypocritical

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- The United States and Japan agreed on the issue of exporting interceptor missiles for missile shields now being jointly developed to third countries when they meet certain terms at the foreign and defense authorities' talks held in Washington on June 21. Minju Joson Tuesday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard: By clinching the deal for the sale of the above-said missiles to third countries via the U.S. Japan disclosed itself the fact that it is keenly interested in easing the three principles of arms export. Japan's intention to scrap the three principles of arms export which it has "observed" for years, advocating them as its state policy was not simply for earning money. It is an important element of its politics to emerge a normal state with the rights to found armed forces, conduct military actions overseas and carry out war without delay after shaking off its ill-fame as a war criminal state of the past and getting rid of its political and institutional mechanisms that have stood in its way. Furthermore, Japan is contemplating emerging a state capable of putting Asia under its military control. It is now working in real earnest to knock into shape a military alliance in the Asia-Pacific region at the U.S. prodding. It viewed a free supply and common use of arms and equipment as essential for establishing military cooperation with some countries in Asia and seeking closer relations with them. It is the intention of Japan to find a solution to this issue by easing the above-said principles. This means that the above-said moves of the Japanese reactionaries are a vivid manifestation of their ambition to emerge a military giant and launch overseas militarist expansion, concludes the commentary. |
