The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea on Thursday issued information bulletin No. 974 in this regard.

The information bulletin said:

The puppet regime plans to turn the five islands and waters around them into tourist destinations though they are very acute waters where a war may break out any moment. This is little short of a dangerous project to build tourist resorts on powder magazines.

The group of traitors is busy with the project to develop the Demilitarized Zone along the Military Demarcation Line for the purpose of confrontation with the DPRK and money-making, advertising that the area will become a "security tourist resort" and "eco-friendly peace park."

Its projects to develop tourist resorts are despicable ideas which can be conceived only by such dealers as the Lee Myung Bak group utterly indifferent to the tragedy of the nation's division and disgrace brought by the confrontation among the fellow countrymen.

The group is talking about "international tourist resorts" while massively reinforcing armed forces on the five islands in the West Sea and waters around them and setting up even the command for the defence of its northwest islands. This is a mockery of the public opinion and another provocation to the DPRK.

Through the project the group is seeking to conceal its preparations for a war against the DPRK, make the "northern limit line", an illegal ghost line, an established fact, and get its dominium over the waters in the West Sea publicly recognized.

It also intends to tone down the anger of the south Korean people including islanders who feel uneasiness and horror about military exercises and bring to the islands not only inhabitants but tourists to use them as "human shields" in the military showdown with the DPRK.

A war knows no mercy, and tourist resorts can by no means be safe.
