S. Korean Hospital's Abuses of Women Denounced

Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- 19 women's organizations in south Korea, including the Federation of Women Organizations and the Women's Committee of the Confederation of Trade Unions, hit out at the management of Kyongsan Samsung Hospital for its human rights abuses. They held a press conference in front of the building of the Human Rights Committee on June 28.

The speakers accused the hospital management of dismissing women workers en masse and hurling hooligans into committing sexual violence against women union members protesting against the measure.

They branded it as serious human rights abuses against women.

A press release urged the "government" and the Human Rights Committee to fully investigate the sexual violence by the hospital side and hooligans and probe the truth.

It said the progressive forces would work hard to check violence against women.
