The planned transfer of the drill place to the island goes against its authorities' will, the opinion said, adding that the assembly can never accept the attitude of the government which has not given the local authorities understandable explanation on it.

That day the mayor of Nishinoomote of the island and others called at the Defense Ministry to hand a written protest, which urges the cancellation of article on the transfer of the drill to Make Island from the joint document adopted between the Japanese and the U.S. governments.

The joint document can never be approved as it disregarded the opinion of the locality, the written protest said.
