A representative of the Democratic Labor Party in south Korea held at a meeting at the base construction site that there should never be a military base on the island.

The representative termed the building of the naval base on Jeju Island a threat to peace on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia.

He accused the authorities of pushing forward the project despite opposition from Jeju islanders and suppressing the protestors.

He reiterated his will to intensify the actions for holding in check the base construction in the future.

On the same day, the All-islanders Measure Committee for Checking the Military Base on Jeju Island held a ceremony of kicking off the day of citizens' actions against the naval base construction at the square in front of the Jeju city hall. It was followed by a rally and demonstration.

The internet association supporting the residents of Kangjong village on Jeju Island also held a press conference at the Jeju city hall demanding an immediate stop to the base construction.
