Early in the winter of Juche 51 (1962), officials discussed preparing a new winter suit for the President because his suit was discolored and outdated.

Having learnt the fact, the President said there was no need to make a new suit for him and that he would continue wearing it after being bushelled.

The officials insisted that a new suit be prepared as the mended suit would not be suitable for the President when meeting lots of people during his field guidance tour.

But the President refused to accept their offering, saying if he were dressed well, workers and peasants would feel constraint in his presence and that he would always share bitters and sweets with them.

One winter day, officials brought an electric heater to his office room. At that time, the President told them the heater would probably warm up the room but not his mind because the country was suffering from electricity shortage.

He had used an old TV set and vinyl slippers in his office room until he passed away.
