Opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" Staged for Chinese Guests of Honor

| Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" was staged at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre Sunday for the friendship delegation of China led by Zhang Dejiang, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Communist Party of China and vice-premier of the State Council. The opera adapted from a Chinese folk legend deals with the tragic love between a daughter of an aristocrat's family and a son of a literary man's family. It roundly exposes and criticizes the unfair feudal status system and marriage system. Among the audience were Vice-premier Kang Nung Su, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hyong Jun, Vice-Minister of Culture Han Chol, officials concerned, working people in the city and staff members of the Chinese embassy here. The opera was acclaimed by the audience for fully meeting the requirements of the original work and ensuring high artistry. |
