Rodong Sinmun Discloses Unpopular Nature of S. Korean Conservative Regime

Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- The Lee Myung Bak regime of south Korea regards people as the target of its politics and leaves no means untried to achieve its sinister political aims, while oppressing and exploiting them, says the Rodong Sinmun newspaper Monday. As for its economic policy, it is based on the American-style "market-almighty concept" and "neo-liberalism", the daily says in a bylined article, adding: After coming to power the conservative group reneged on its "commitment" to pursue "a policy for common people." But it formed the "government" with millionaires and kingpins of scandals and followed an "economic policy depending on plutocrats". Consequently, it fanned up economic crisis and brought the people bigger misfortune and sufferings. It has pushed forward only unpopular policies including the projects for improving four large rivers, "educational autonomy" and "privatization of the public sector," all opposed by the people. The group does so because its support base is the exploiting class such as plutocrats. The group maintains its power with political funds it gets from plutocrats for patronizing them and protecting their interests. After taking power the group reduced taxes of the plutocrats while increasing taxes of common and middle-class people. This is a typical example proving its political tie-up with the plutocrats. The widening gap between the rich and the poor in south Korea is attributable to the corrupt social system where foreign forces, reactionary ruling quarters and exploiters lord it over. It is this unpopular policy of the Lee group that creates social evils resulting from the above-said gap. The rulers dominating the people and violating their dignity and interests, backed by outsiders, are fated to meet ruin. This is the truth proven by history. |
