The swimming complex of Kim Il Sung University, Mangyongdae Pool, swimming pool of the Changgwang Health Complex and other swimming facilities in Pyongyang are also overcrowded with citizens seeking to spend a pleasant time in hot days.

During the months primary and secondary schools throughout the country often organize swimming contests.

River-crossing competitions are popular in schools in North Hamgyong, Kangwon and South Hwanghae Provinces.
