Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK the fry production remarkably increased this year as compared with the same period of last year and the project for updating fish breeding bases has made brisk headway. The Pyongyang Catfish Farm raised the amount of fry catfish of good breed over two times that of last year to supply to different units. Songhwa, Myongchon, Taegwan and other catfish farms have produced tens of millions of fry catfish through introduction of scientific methods this year. The Pyongyang City Fish Farming Management Bureau increased the fry production twice as compared with last year. The Samsok Breed-fish Station put egg taking and hatching on a scientific and technological basis to suit the ecological characteristics of fish species, thus carrying out its yearly plan for fry production 200 percent. Nampho City and Unsan, Sohung, Kumya, Jongphyong and other counties provided conditions favorable for spawning in rivers and streams while enhancing the role of fish farms. A drive to modernize fish breeding bases is progressing apace. The Tudan Breed-fish Station in Pyongyang, now under way of renovation, is speeding up the construction of general control room and other buildings at the final stage. Unsan, Ryongchon and many other breed-fish stations, too, have pushed ahead with work to introduce the general control system in production processes, build feed processing bases and rebuild fishponds. |
