Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by National Symphony Orchestra

Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, enjoyed a performance given by the National Symphony Orchestra. Its repertoire included the second movement "His Life" and the fifth movement "Appearing in the East and in the West, It's the Anti-Japanese Guerilla Style" of symphony suite "O Korea, I Will Add Glory to Thee", string ensemble "Chollima Runs", orchestra "Rich Harvest Comes to the Chongsan Plain" and serial symphony "Song to the Party". Greatly satisfied with the fact that the creators and artistes of the National Symphony Orchestra gave a splendid performance with high artistry and enthusiasm, Kim Jong Il highly praised them for their successful performance and extended thanks to them. The conductors and players of the National Symphony Orchestra successfully represented all the music pieces suited to the national emotion and aesthetic taste of the times, he noted, praising them for their sincere and enthusiastic creative style and attitude to steadily raise their ability and artistry. The orchestra of Korean style, a full embodiment of the Juche character, the national identity and musical character in the field of musical art, is fully meeting the cultural and emotional requirements of the Korean people and positively contributing to promoting friendship and exchange among countries as it reflects the desire of the people for independence and their noble spiritual world with rich and beautiful musical representation, he said, putting forward the important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further developing orchestra. Among the audience were senior officials of the party and armed forces Kim Jong Un, Ri Yong Ho, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jong Gak, Kim Yong Il, Kim Yang Gon, Pak To Chun, Choe Ryong Hae, Thae Jong Su, Kim Phyong Hae, Mun Kyong Dok, Ju Kyu Chang, U Tong Chuk, Kim Chang Sop and Ri Myong Su, Members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK Kim Kyong Ok, Kim Won Hong, Kim Yong Chol and Yun Jong Rin, Department Director of the NDC Hyon Chol Hae and officials in the fields of literature and arts and media. |
