Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Downpours fell in Assam State, India recently, leaving persons dead. Tens of thousands of inhabitants were evacuated and many villages inundated. The total number of victims is more than 150,000. Sand storms broke out in Arizona State, the U.S. on July 18. With sand clouds hanging as high as about 900 m, the sky in Phoenix city turned brown. Drivers had trouble running vehicles and the airliner service was cancelled. A large and powerful typhoon of over 90 kilometers per hour lashed western Japan early Wednesday, leaving one person missing and 50 injured. A total of around 170,000 households temporarily suffered power blackouts. The typhoon also disrupted public transportation. Train and airliner services were suspended and roads blocked. |
