With sand clouds hanging as high as about 900 m, the sky in Phoenix city turned brown. Drivers had trouble running vehicles and the airliner service was cancelled.

A large and powerful typhoon of over 90 kilometers per hour lashed western Japan early Wednesday, leaving one person missing and 50 injured. A total of around 170,000 households temporarily suffered power blackouts.

The typhoon also disrupted public transportation. Train and airliner services were suspended and roads blocked.
