Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, at the round-table talks referred to the achievements made in economic development in the first half of the year. He called upon the above-said personages to effectively work with the firm faith and make positive efforts to bring about a good phase in the economic and social development during the 12th Five-Year Plan.

He stressed the need for all democratic party groupings, the Chinese National Federation of Industry and Commerce and independent personages to make dynamic survey and study and devote their efforts and wisdom to accomplishing the goals and duties for economic and social development this year.
