The enactment is aimed to, through the implementation of the law, landscape the country, improve the people's health and provide them with better living and working conditions.

The regulations are made up of four chapters and 60 articles.

The first chapter stipulates the applicable objects of the regulations and principles of the DPRK in environmental protection.

The second contains what should be maintained in preserving and creating natural environment.

The third and fourth give guidelines for preventing environmental pollution and intensifying supervision over the environmental protection.

In this regard, the Cabinet's decision "On Approving Regulations for Implementation of the Law on the Protection of Environment", which was endorsed in October Juche 88 (1999), has become invalid.
