Art Performances Celebrate Day of War Victory

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- A concert was given by artistes of the Samjiyon Band of the Mansudae Art Troupe at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the great victory won by the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War. Among the audience were senior state officials, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions and servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and working people in the city. Overseas Koreans and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, diplomatic envoys of different countries and military attaches of foreign embassies and representatives of international bodies here were invited there. The performance helped the audience recollect with warm feelings the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung who led the war to victory with the Juche-based military idea and outstanding commanding art, defeating the U.S. imperialists and glorifying Korea as a heroic country. The concert left deep impressions on the audience. Put on the stage were serial wartime songs "Song of National Defence", "Forward Advance" and "To a Decisive Battle", a mixed duet "Mill on Jictong Ridge for Victory ", women's instrumental music "Mungyong Pass", and others. The numbers showed well the feats of the servicepersons of the People's Army who defended the land of the country at the cost of their blood and people who dedicated their all to boosting the wartime production and assisting those on the front. Celebration performances also took place in Pyongyang and local areas on the same day. The National Symphony Orchestra performed at the Moranbong Theatre and the National Folk Art Troupe, the Orchestra of the Yun I Sang Music Institute and other art troupes at the Yun I Sang Concert Hall. Drama "We Will Recollect Today" was performed at the National Theatre. Colorful performances given in South Hamgyong, Jagang and Kangwon provinces also added to the festive atmosphere. |
