In June a Chinese fighters deterred a U.S. reconnaissance plane from conducting close espionage in the Straits of Taiwan. This espionage on China by the U.S. military hamstrung the bilateral relations, the spokesman said.

The U.S. House of Representatives' recent adoption of a resolution on selling arms to Taiwan gravely hurt the core interests of China, and the Chinese is resolutely opposed to it, he noted.

China urges the U.S. to abide by the principles of the three joint communiques adopted between the two countries, he added.
