Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The deputy chief of the Iranian mission at the UN, speaking at a meeting of the UNSC on July 28, scathingly accused Israel and the West.

One of the basic causes of the instable situation in the Middle East lies in the Israeli policy of aggression and occupation, he said, adding that peace will never settle in the region as long as the Israeli authorities keep pursuing this policy.

He condemned the West for defending and patronizing Israel's crimes against Palestinians. He called upon the international community to take steps to put an end to the Israeli blockade against the Gaza Strip and check Israeli nuclear activities, a threat to the regional peace and security.
