Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday dedicates a signed article to the 20th anniversary of the publication of President Kim Il Sung's work "Let Us Achieve the Great Unity of Our Nation".

The work, published on August 1, Juche 80 (1991), makes a Juche-oriented clarification of the issues of the nation and reunification and, on this basis, indicates the principle and ways for achieving the great unity of the Korean nation.

The President in his work explained that the great national unity is the basic premise for accomplishing the cause of the country's reunification and forms its essential contents, the article notes, and goes on:

In the work he also taught that the driving force for the country's reunification is the entire Korean nation and the might of this driving force precisely means the might of the unity. It, at the same time, clarifies the ideological basis and fundamental principles of the great national unity.

The ideological basis of the great national unity clarified by the President is patriotism and the spirit of national independence and its fundamental principle calls on all the fellow countrymen to put the common interests of the nation above anything else and subordinate everything to the cause of the country's reunification irrespective of ideology, system and religion.

Over the past two decades the work has powerfully promoted the cause of the great unity of the Korean nation, firmly gripping the hearts of all Koreans aspiring after patriotism and independent reunification.

The dynamic advance of the June 15 era of reunification constitutes a powerful demonstration of the validity and vitality of the President's idea and line of great national unity. The President indicated the way of achieving the great unity of the nation with his outstanding ideological and theoretical wisdom, immensely broad magnanimity and ardent patriotism, thereby laying a solid groundwork for national reunification. This undying exploit will always shine with the history of the nation.

The historic work of the President serves as a banner of national unity which all Koreans should invariably uphold in the nation-wide struggle for independent reunification and peace and prosperity of the country.
