Beijing, July 31 (KCNA) -- Liu Yandong, a state councilor of China, called for making preparations to host the Universiad as a high-level sports and cultural festival.

Liu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, toured Shenzhen on July 23 to 24 to inspect preparations for the games.

Through the games, China should fully demonstrate the mental and moral traits of its civilized, energetic and vigorous students and promote understanding and friendship among university students all over the world, she added.
