Beijing, August 1 (KCNA) -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ma Zhaoxu, Friday announced the Chinese government decided to provide 90 million yuan (14mln U.S. dollars) worth of emergency food assistance to drought-hit regions of Africa.

He said China is deeply concerned with the widespread famine triggered by the severe drought in African regions.

"Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the drought victims," he added in a written statement.
