Rodong Sinmun Calls for Independence, Equality and Mutual Benefit

Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- It is an important factor of promoting the development of international relations to respect each other's sovereignty and boost exchange and cooperation on the principle of equality.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a bylined article.

It goes on:

The principles of independence, equality and mutual benefit are inseparable from the international relations.

It is a fundamental principle governing the sound development of international relations for countries to respect each other's sovereignty.

Without respect for each other's sovereignty it is impossible to have true cooperation and exchange among countries nor is it possible to establish strong international relations.

Adherence to the principle of equality serves as an important principle to govern the external activities of every country and a main requirement for the healthy development of international relations.

All countries and nations are equal as members of the international community.

If countries are to establish true and durable international relations of cooperation and exchange, they should help each other and protect each other's interests.

They cannot but closely combine the efforts for the development of international relations based on the principles of independence, equality and mutual benefit with the struggle against the imperialists as they still remain on the earth and are persisting in their moves for aggression, war and interference to realize their ambition for world domination.

Cooperation and exchange among countries based on the said principles have become brisk in recent years as a result of the appearance of regional organizations and unions of different types.

The DPRK has exerted efforts for the development of international relations based on those principles, the article concludes.
