Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- The Jeju Island Committee of the Democratic Party of south Korea held a rally at the Kangjong Village in Sogwipho City, Jeju Island on July 30 at which it demanded the authorities stop at once the construction of a naval base.

At the rally speakers accused the "Grand National Party" and conservative media of labeling people opposing the construction of the naval base on Jeju Island as "pro-north forces" and "Reds".

The military and the "government" are wholly to blame for all misfortunes taking place at the Kangjong Village due to the mobilization of repressive forces, they charged.

They urged the "government" stop at once the project and settle the issue at an early date.
