Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- The African Union announced on August 1 that it is convening a summit to discuss rendering assistance to famine-stricken people in the Horn of Africa.

The summit will be attended by state leaders of African countries and representatives of international donor organizations.

At a meeting with AU officials, the vice-chairman of the AU called on all African nations to do every possible effort to help the famine victims.
