Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, on August 2 issued a statement on the 51st anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of his Songun revolutionary leadership.

The DPRK has held higher the banner of Songun to defend socialism, the statement said.

The Korean people have built powerful defense capacity under the banner of Songun, it noted, stressing that the world progressives are confident that if the U.S. invades the DPRK, it would suffer a bitter defeat again at the hands of the Korean People's Army and the people of the DPRK.

The countries and peoples aspiring after independence should learn from the Songun idea of socialist Korea, it noted.

The 51st anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of his Songun revolutionary leadership is a common holiday not only of the Korean people but of the world people aspiring after independence and socialism, it said, fully supporting the Songun idea.
