Historic Meeting Significant in Anti-Japanese Struggle

Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung convened a historic meeting of military and political cadres of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) in Xiaohaerbaling on August 10, Juche 29 (1940). The meeting was of weighty significance in the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. Song Tong Won, director of the Institute of Kim Il Sung's Revolutionary Activities of the Academy of Social Sciences, told KCNA a policy of switching large-unit activities to small-unit activities was adopted at the meeting. The policy made it possible to weaken the Japanese imperialists' aggression forces, put them in the passive and ensure the revolutionary forces' decisive and positive activities with intensive small-unit activities, he said. Jong Chi Gon, a teacher of the History Faculty of Kim Il Sung University, said the President, with a scientific insight into the rapidly changing situation and the requirement of the developing revolution, set forth a new goal and tactics to provide favorable conditions for the country's liberation. At the meeting the President called for preserving the KPRA and training its members as able political and military cadres necessary to achieve the liberation of the country, he added. Nam Kyong Chon, deputy curator of the Korean Revolution Museum, said that the meeting was a landmark event that encouraged people of all social strata to turn out in making preparations for an all-people resistance. |
