Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il published the work "On Bringing About a Fresh Turn in Land Management" on August 11, Juche 85 (1996).

In the work the leader set forth tasks to bring about a fresh turn in land management and indicated ways of carrying out the tasks.

Since the publication of the work, a nationwide campaign for land management has been conducted successfully in the country.

Cities and county seats have been face-lifted as required by a new century. Hundreds of thousands of hectares have been turned into standardized fields and the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway and the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway built.

Hundreds of thousands of modern dwelling houses were built in rural communities and over 1 500 000 hectares of forests created throughout the country. Many roads have been constructed or reconstructed and rivers improved.
