Eradication of Pro-Japanese Remnants and Independent and Peaceful Reunification Demanded

Pyongyang, August 13 (KCNA) -- Kwon O Hon, honorary chairman of the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy in south Korea, in an article on August 9 called for eradicating pro-Japanese remnants and achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

The article said: On August 1 Dietmen from the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan arrived at Kimpho Airport of south Korea to visit Ullung Islet before kicking up a racket. On August 2 the so-called "white paper on defense for 2011" calling for "dominium over Tok Islets" was adopted at the Cabinet meeting of Japan.

Worse still, the Japanese government officially adopted the history textbook for secondary school in which the Pacific War is embellished as "a greater East Asia war."

This is Japan's undisguised intrigue to revive militarism and an act of unhesitatingly revealing its ambition for reinvasion of the Korean Peninsula, it held.

Japan is laying hurdles in inter-Korean dialogue by taking advantage of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK, far from making an apology and reparation of the crimes which brought so painful wounds to Koreans, it said.

It is the task of the national history to eliminate pro-Japanese remnants and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, it noted, calling upon all the people to thoroughly shatter the policy for confrontation with fellow countrymen pursued in collusion with foreign forces, holding high the banner of the inter-Korean joint declarations with August 15 as an occasion.
